Houston Becomes Front Line in Gun Control Debate

(NBC/NECN: Brian Mooar, Houston) - After shooting down the most serious gun control effort in decades, the National Rifle Association's annual convention has the feel of a victory rally.

But the tone is as serious as the debate over guns itself.

Far from backing down, the powerful gun lobby is hoping to use its political momentum to shake up Congress in the next election.

While NRA members meet inside the hall, anti-gun forces are demonstrating outside.

For this weekend, at least, Houston is the front line in the debate over guns, the will of the American people, and the right to bear arms.
