Political Fight Over Benghazi Attack Heating Up Again

(NBC/NECN: Brian Mooar, Washington DC) - The long-simmering political fight over a deadly attack on the US Consulate in Libya is heating up again.

The Obama administration has been forced to defend itself about what it knew, and when it knew it, as well as what happened in the days after the attack.

Republicans have been crying cover-up for months, and now they say they have new evidence, including documents and testimony, that backs up their theory. They're calling for a new round of investigations into the aftermath of the attacks.

Both sides are accusing their counterparts of using the attack for political purposes. The GOP is asserting a cover-up was used by Democrats to help Barack Obama in the 2012 Presidential election, while the Democrats believe the Republicans' extended search into the conflict is to twist facts to affect the 2016 election and hurt former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's chances as a candidate.

NBC's Briano Mooar has more on the story from Washington.
