Family Friend: Body Found in North Attleboro, Mass. Is Odin Lloyd

(NECN: Scot Yount, Dorchester, Mass.) – A man who identified himself as a friend of the family of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd says the family has been told that the body found in a North Attleboro industrial area on Monday is that of Lloyd.

"I mean they are heart broken, very heart broken, who wouldn't be," asked the man who would only give his first name of Keithroy.

Lloyd was a semi-pro football player who played for the Boston Bandits.

His head coach, Olivier Bustin, says he last saw Lloyd on Saturday after a practice, and that most of what he knows has come from social media and his players speaking to the family.

"I know a lot of his players have and it has been a difficult time for the whole team," Bustin said.

Lloyd was always happy and loved playing football, according to his coach, who said Lloyd wore number 53 and played mostly as a defensive linebacker and, at times, a tight end.

He went to a Boston high school and was instrumental in coaching other younger players who were looking into getting football scholarships to college.

Lloyd had been living here at his uncle's home in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood.

Several of what appeared to be family members and friends came and went from the home for several hours but declined to speak on camera.

Bustin says several players and one of his coaches are just too upset to speak publicly.

"He knew him from high school and played with him for years now,” Bustin said. “It was difficult for them on Tuesday when they all found out about it.”
