New England on a Mission to Beat the Heat

(NECN: Greg Wayland) - Most New England residents will take the summer heat over this past winter's weather any time.

Historic storms and plenty of snow can make a heat wave in New England seem pleasant, but that doesn't mean people aren't doing their best to stay cool.

Whether it's heading to the beach, getting in the water, finding some shade, or even escaping to the air conditioning of a local community center, public health officials are advising everyone to take it easy.

To help that cause, Boston's city pools and parks with water attractions are staying open all weekend as residents try beat the heat.

Of course, don't forget the Museum of Science and the Aquarium. Both provide an opportunity to explore while enjoying the chilly indoors.

No matter what you do, city officials urge people to stay hydrated, check on neighbors, and check the list of cooling centers around Boston.

Greg Wayland has more on how people are keeping cool this weekend.
