Pilot Killed in Small Plane Crash in Limington, Maine

LIMINGTON, Maine (AP) - Authorities say a Maine man is dead after the small plane he was piloting crashed just after takeoff.

York County Sheriff William King says 58-year-old Anthony Longley, of Naples, died in the crash Friday at Limington Airport.

King says witnesses reported Longley had just taken off when his 1957 Cessna 172 when it sputtered and crashed around 1:30 p.m.

Officials say Longley was alone in the four-seat aircraft. He reportedly had a student license that allowed him to fly alone.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
