(NECN: Jackie Bruno, Hampton, NH) – There is a new twist in a deadly crash that killed two cyclists in New Hampshire. A second woman has been arrested in the case and is now facing drug charges.
This woman's name is Cindy Sheppard. She's accused of selling fentanyl, a narcotic used for pain, to Darriean Hess before she got into that accident. She'll be arraigned Thursday at Hampton District Court.
Forty-eight-year-old Sheppard was taken into custody Wednesday.
Police alleged she sold a drug to Darriean Hess in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Then, let her drive a vehicle, knowing Hess didn’t have a license. What police don’t know is if Hess was under the influence of the drug when she allegedly plowed her car into a group of cyclists killing two women, and injuring two others.
“That’s ridiculous. I don’t know why she was able to get a car again. Why did that friend let her take that car again?,” asked Gorodn Wiley, a friend of one of the victims.
Wiley was at Hess’s video arraignment Wednesday. He’s a close friends of one of the victims, Elise Bouchard. She was killed, along with Pamela Wells. He said he wanted to make sure Hess didn’t get out of jail.
“I feel her family should suffer by having her in jail like we have to suffer by not having our loved ones with us.

Hess’s family was also in court. They said they’re not sure they can afford to post her $50,000 bail.
“Our entire family is completely tramatized and we mourn for the people lost in this tragedy and we pray for the ones that are injured,” said Hess’s brother Magness.
Sheppard has been charged with one count of possession of heroin with intent to distribute and one count of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. She'll be arraigned on those charges Thursday around 11. More charges could follow.
