Senate Expected to Pass Bill to Repay Furloughed Federal Workers

(NECN) - Sunday is day 6 of the government shutdown and some workers are heading back to the office.

The pentagon is ordering most of its 400,000 furloughed civilian employees back to work. Also, the house passed a bill to give 800,000 furloughed federal workers retroactive pay once the government reopens.

The senate is expected to approve that bill as well.

There is not much other progress toward ending the shutdown.

The house has passed several bills to reopen selected parts of the federal government. Democrats are rejecting that, saying the entire government should be reopened.
