Entertainment: ‘Bad Grandpa' Tops Box Office Weekend

(NECN) - Legendary musician Lou Reed, a rock and roll pioneer, has died. His agent Andrew Wylie said Reed died Sunday morning in New York from an ailment related to his recent liver transplant. Reed was the leader of the 1960's cult band "Velvet Underground" and later performed as a solo artist. His biggest hit was "Walk on the Wild Side." Reed was 71-years old.

There is a new king of the box office, and it's anything but an Oscar contender. "Bad Grandpa" stars Johnny Knoxville as an accident prone grandfather in a movie filmed using tons of hidden cameras. It made $32-million in its first weekend. That was enough to easily dethrone three-week box office champ "Gravity" which made $20.3-million this weekend. Its three week total is almost $200-millions. "Captain Phillips" finished third.

Sylvester Stallone is best known for playing the boxer “Rocky,” but he's using his fists for something other than fighting. Stallone was in Saint Petersburg, Russia for the opening of an art exhibit of his work at the Russian museum. He studied art before his acting career took off. The works in the exhibit cover the years 1975 to 2013.
