Skydivers Talk About Miracle in the Sky After 2 Planes Collide Over Wis.

(NECN: Steve Aveson) – By now, you’ve probably seen or heard about the video from a skydiver who was recording moments before and after his plane collided with another in mid-air over Superior, Wis.

Amazingly, all 11 onboard survived, and now they’re talking about their brush with death.

Two planes spun out of control Saturday evening. Turbulence caused them to crash into each other. One plane broke up into fiery debris. What looked to be certain disaster miraculously was not.

In an exclusive NBC video, you can see the divers jump, avoid the blast and fall 1,200 feet at 125 mph.

Early Tuesday morning, the skydivers spoke about the experience on the “Today Show.”

Patricia Roy, one of the skydivers, said the worst thing was hearing the pilot scream.

Roy feared for pilot Blake Weidan.

Amazingly, the other pilot escaped his plane with a special parachute in a carefully practiced maneuver.

As for Weidan, remarkably, he was able to safely pilot his damaged plane to the ground, in video captured by one of his skydivers.

All of the skydivers were instructors or coaches and had hundreds of jumps under their belts.
