2 Weapons Stolen From FBI Vehicle Found in Lawrence, Mass.

Update 11/08/13, 11:19 a.m.: Police  said a 16-year-old is in custody and will be charged. They say he is cooperating and that forensic evidence was use to identify the suspect.

(NECN: Justin Michaels) – Andover, Mass. Police confirm that the two weapons taken from an FBI SWAT vehicle in Andover have been found in Lawrence, Mass.

The two high-powered weapons, one an M-16 and the other a sniper rifle, were found in the course of the FBI investigation.

There were clear fingerprints found on the weapons that will eventually lead to an arrest.

As far as where in Lawrence, what time overnight and the circumstances surrounding how the weapons were found, that is all part of an ongoing FBI investigation.

The Colt M16-A1 rifle and HS Precision Pro-series 2000 Sniper Rifle were stolen from a SWAT vehicle parked outside an FBI agent's home in Andover around 7:30 Thursday morning before that agent went to work.

At this point, the FBI is not commenting on whether or not the vehicle was broken into or not. They will only say that it was "illegally entered."

An FBI internal investigation will determine if those weapons were stored properly.

As far as the $20,000 reward that was being offered for information leading to the recovery of the weapons, that also is part of the FBI investigation. As to whether or not that reward will be given out, the Andover Police do not know at this time.
