Emerson College Changes Name to Honor Visit From ‘Ron Burgundy'

(NECN: Jackie Bruno) – One Massachusetts college is changing its name in honor of Ron Burgundy, the lead character in the upcoming film, “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.”

Emerson College is changing its name to “The Ron Burgundy School of Communication,” even selling shirts and sweatshirts to mark the event.

Actor Will Ferrell, who plays the character, will be visiting the school, playing his famous role.

While not everyone agrees with the name change, some people think it is a good idea.

One student said, “I think it’s a great idea to change the name. Ron Burgundy is the future of journalism.”

Another student said, “It shows that the faculty here are cool. They know what we like and they’re not afraid to make a joke. They’re not too high and mighty about their school.”

He added that it will be great to go home over break and tell people how Ferrell visited the school.
