Small Plane Misses Runway in North Andover, Mass.

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) - A pilot trying to land a small plane in a snowstorm has missed the runway and touched down on the adjacent grassy area at North Andover's Lawrence Municipal Airport.

Fire Lt. William McCarthy says the pilot thought he was landing on the runway that was covered by falling snow, but poor visibility caused him to miss it Thursday.

The pilot walked away from the plane without suffering serious injury, together with a woman passenger and a dog.

The 4-seater plane's undercarriage and its front suffered some damage.

The 1975 Piper Aztec was towed off.

The plane was flying in from Florida.
