Gorham Police Responding to Off-campus University of Southern Maine Frat House

UPDATE (1/23 @ 4:50) - The standoff has ended peacefully and with no injuries.

(NECN) - The University of Southern Maine in Gorham confirms police have surrounded a fraternity house Wednesday night after reports that a frat brother is holed up inside his room.

According to university officials, members of Sigma Nu called campus police around 8 p.m. and said they believed he was armed; officials say they were able to evacuate safely.

The frat house is on School Street and is off campus, and officials say the university is not on lockdown; however, authorities are asking people to stay away from the area.

No injuries have been reported.
