Opinions Divided as Prosecutors Seek Death Penalty Against Tsarnaev

(NECN: Justin Michaels) - For some Boston Marathon bombing victims and their relatives, prosecutors seeking the death penalty against Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, is welcome news, while others say it allows the bombing suspect to get off too easy.

More than 260 people were injured and four people died because of the alleged actions of two men two brothers, Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

Spectators Martin Richard, Krystle Campbell and Lingzi Lu were killed in the bombings.

Then on April 19, MIT Officer Sean Collier was also killed during the search for the suspects.

Both Paul and JP Norden lost their right legs when the second bomb went off 100 yards from the marathon finish line. Their uncle Peter Brown spoke about this decision by Atty. Gen. Eric Holder.

"If you're going to try and commit these types of acts, terrorist acts, then you're going to be held accountable and if it means the death penalty then it means the death penalty."

Victim Steve Byrne was at the finish line with friends.

In his eyes, death is too quick and easy for Tsarnaev.

"Obviously I do agree with it because death is death, but in my own eyes this is a 19 year old kid. He has a long healthy life ahead of him and personally I'd like to see him sit in prison for 50-60 plus years dealing with that."

They were two perspectives among the many about a punishment possibility for the prosecution during a trial that isn't expected to start until sometime next year.

Regardless of this new development, many of the victims and their families have said they will attend the trial.
