Trial Continues in Deadly CT Home Invasion

(NECN) - The trial is underway for a second man charged in a deadly home invasion in Cheshire, CT.

Dr. William Petit, the lone survivor of the attack, is expected to take the stand on Tuesday. He was in the courtroom on Monday, when lawyers delivered opening statements in the trial of Joshua Komisarjevsky.

Petit's wife, Jennifer Hawke-Petit, and two daughters were killed in the attack. Hawke-Petit was raped and strangled, and the 11-year-old daughter was molested. The two daughters died of smoke inhalation after the house was set on fire.

Another man, Steven Hayes, has been sentenced to death. Komisarjevsky faces the same fate, if convicted.

In court on Monday, Komisarjevsky's attorneys blamed Hayes for escalating the violence of the home invasion. Prosecutors say both men are equally responsible.

Legal Analyst and Attorney Andrea Levy joined "The Morning Show" to provide insight and context for the trial.
