(NECN) - In the 11 years since the tragic events of the September 11 terror attacks, there has been much change as a nation - including our history. These changes have also had an impact on education.
Seth Jacobs, Associate Professor of History at Boston College, and Bill Keylor, Professor of International Relations at Boston University, joined "The Morning Show" to discuss their experiences as teachers in a post-9/11 world, and how the events of that horrific day played out in the classroom 11 years ago.
Many schools are marking the events of Sept. 11 with special ceremonies and moments of silence.
In Needham Public Schools, the sixth grade classes will discuss as it comes up in social studies classes. In this case, the principals do not believe the younger students will benefit from or need to discuss/think about the anniversary at this stage in their development.
Local
Grades 7-12 will have a moment of silence, pledge of allegiance, and various and optional social studies classes will discuss as appropriate.
