(NECN: Ally Donnelly, Hyannis, Mass.) - The search is on for the 18-year-old arrested in the hit-and-run death of a woman in a wheelchair.
Appearing in court today, the suspect, Gina Giovangelo, told her lawyer she was going outside to smoke a cigarette. She said she would be right back, but instead took off.
A warrant has been issued for her arrest.
Giovangelo has been charged in the death of 47-year-old Lillian White.
She was scheduled to be arraigned today on charges of motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
Giovangelo has previous charges of larceny and breaking and entering against her.
