(NECN: Scot Yount) - The Obama family spent most of their last day of their Vineyard vacation on a private beach in Edgartown. It's the same spot they enjoyed last Saturday. Today marks the end of what the White House calls a "working vacation."
It's the second time the Obama has visited Martha's Vineyard since taking office. He and his family have spent the last 10 days enjoying the water, playing games, and biking around state forests. During his stay, the president played five rounds of golf on three different golf courses.
Today on his weekly Internet address, the president talked about the end of war in Iraq. He said, "like any sovereign independent nation, Iraq is free to chart its own course." He said he expects to have all American troops out of the country by the end of next year. Obama is set to give a big speech on Iraq this Tuesday.
People close to the president say it's likely the family may return again next year. Even during the rainy days, they were enjoying board games, scrabble, and reading.
While the last 10 days have been relaxing, the president still continued to have his regular security briefings every day.
