Mass. High School Hockey Coach on Leave, Accused of Locker Room Drinking

(NECN: Justin Michaels - Winthrop, Mass.) – Winthrop Police confirm the high school hockey coach and rink manager, Dale Dunbar, is currently being investigated for allegations of drinking in the locker room with student players after a Friday night game, following a loss to Woburn.

The alleged incident happened at the Lawrence Larson rink at the Mike Eruzione Center and the investigation does involve possible underage drinking at this rink.

Apparently a police officer noticed lights on in the rink and decided to investigate. The officer reported seeing players and coaches inside with beer.

The coach and rink manager is currently on administrative leave.

The investigation involves the review of surveillance video to see if student players were provided alcohol.

As far as the players and other adults involved in the alleged incident, any discipline for them is pending the active investigation.
