Auditor Report Expected on Mass. DCF Review

(NECN) - As the release of a report on the Department of Children and Families from Massachusetts Auditor Suzanne Bump is expected, there is new information about changes within the agency.

The DCF director of public affairs tells NECN they are reducing the roles of directors who currently oversee multiple areas.

According to the Telegram, the uncoupling of those roles is part of the effort to reduce case loads.

The DCF came under fire for their handling of the case of missing five-year-old Fitchburg boy Jeremiah Oliver.

A spokesman for the department says the Oliver case brought these issues to light, but is not the sole reason for the changes.
