Plymouth Police Chief: Officer Killed in Crash Was a Hard Worker, Family Man

(NECN) - A Plymouth, Mass. police officer is dead after his motorcycle crashed Tuesday afternoon on Route 44.

Officer Gregg Maloney, 43, had been with the department for 17 years, and was one of several Plymouth officers that responded to Boston and Watertown following the marathon bombings and manhunt.

Plymouth Police Chief Michael Botieri spoke briefly about Maloney Tuesday night.

He said, “He was well liked by the officers. He was an active officer. He loved his family, his son graduated the student academy a couple weeks ago, so he made sure he was there. Just the kind of guy he was. He worked hard and he was a family man.”

Reconstruction teams are investigating how the crash happened, but no other vehicles were involved.
