College Launches Free Emergency Information App

A Rhode Island college is taking steps to protect students in the event of a crisis.

Providence College has launched a free app called “In Case of Crisis.”

The app provides information about emergency policies on the college's campus, from a campus shooter to a roommate with alcohol poisoning.

Koren Kanadanian, director of emergency management at Providence College, said, “If you’re walking across campus or you're just the average student or faculty person, you don't have access to it. So we wanted accessibility to emergency information 24-7."

The school already sends out text messages, emails and phone calls if an emergency takes place and that won't change. The app is just a supplement.
