The Salem Fire Department responded to a 3-alarm fire at 173 Haverhill Road Thursday. Two residents were at home in the building which was divided into several apartments.
One resident was transported to a hospital for smoke inhalation. The male resident was not injured. EMS transported a neighbor who ran over to help for chest pains.
The fire was put out at around 10 am and was brought under control at 10:30 am.
Multiple tanker companies had to be called in because the northern portion of Salem is outside the water district.
The Fire Marshal hasn’t given a cause at this time. The case remains under investigation.
