The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Andover High School Principal Philip Conrad and Athletic Director William Martin to determine of the coaches' behavior is consistent with district and MIAA policies, the school district announced Wednesday evening.

According to a statement from Superintendent Sheldon Berman, Conrad reported the coaches after learning of "certain coaching methodologies."

The coaches, who were not named by the district, were put on administrative leave pending the result of the investigation. Junior Varsity hockey coach Peter Loring has been named the interim varsity head coach in their absence.

None of the coaches are school district staff employees.

"The safety and well-being of our students is our most important priority, and I am disheartened to hear of the allegations against members of our coaching staff," Conrad said in a statement.

Conrad told NBC10 Boston that they were informed by the state's Department of Children and Families about an investigation, and said the district "will be cooperating with them fully while also investigating the allegations ourselves."

The child welfare agency confirmed to NBC10 Boston they're investigating the allegations.

The Superintendent advised students with questions or concerns to contact Principal Conrad, the school's assistant principal, social worker or school psychologist.
