3 Arrested in Jamaica Plain Following Struggle with Officers

Police in Jamaica Plain placed three people under arrest amid a struggle on Saturday night in which the arresting officers were allegedly assaulted and one of the suspects allegedly possessed a loaded firearm.

Shirley Thompson, 40, of Weymouth, and two 17-year-old juveniles -- one of which is Thompson's son -- were arrested shortly after 10:15 p.m. in the area of 950 Parker St. on a variety of charges.

Thompson is charged with assault and batter on a police officer with injuries, resisting arrest, and trespassing. One 17-year-old arrested, from Weymouth, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer with injuries and trespassing; the second juvenile arrested, from Dorchester, was charged with assault and battery on a police officer with injuries, resisting arrest and trespassing.

Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force observed a group of males known to them through previous encounters walking down Parker Street, when one of them immediately ran away. Officers tracked him down and place him under arrest after he resisted.

Around this time, Thompson emerged from a nearby residence and began shouting at officers, who were still attempting to place the first male suspect -- who was holding an object close to his chest -- under arrest.

Officers discovered the suspect was holding a loaded firearm, after which Thompson allegedly began assaulting the officers.

All suspects are expected to be arraigned at Roxbury District Court at a date and time yet to be announced.
