3 Reports of Indecent Assaults Near BU Campus

Police overall received three different accounts of a man approaching women from behind and groping them before running off

The Boston University campus is reportedly on alert following a series of indecent assaults near the campus.

Two indecent assaults reportedly happened Monday.  Since Saturday, police overall received three different accounts of a man approaching women from behind and groping them before running off.

The first assault was reported near Ashford Street in Brighton around 5:23 p.m. The victim told police she was walking along Chester Street when an unknown male approached her from behind and attempted to left her dress. She quickly turned and struck the man, who fled the scene on foot.

The suspect was described as a white male in his thirties, 5’9” with a thin build and very short hair. He was wearing a blue shirt, tan cargo shorts, sneakers and sunglasses.

The second reported assault Monday was aound 8:52 p.m. around 800 Commonwealth Ave. The vicitm in that incident told police a male approached her from behind, lifted up her skirt and grabbed her buttocks. The suspect then fled the area on foot.

He was described as a while male in his late thirties to early forties, with a slim build, thin, balding hair, wearing a blue shirt and gray cargo shorts.

Monday's assaults follow a similar attack that took place early Saturday morning. Two women told Boston police they were walking in Allston near Gardner and Melbourne streets when a man approached the group and groped them from behind.

That suspect, described as a white male about six feet tall, fled in the direction of Ashford Street.
