35 Waste System Workers Sickened After Contact With Liquid

As many as 35 workers have been sickened after coming into contact with a liquid at Casella Waste System in Auburn, Massachusetts.

The unidentified liquid caused 30-35 workers at the Casella Recycling Facility on Hardscrabble Road to suffer from burning throats, itchy skn and eyes and shortness of breath, according to Auburn Fire.

Crews were called to the scene shortly after 3 p.m. The state hazmat team also responded.

The facility was closed and no employees were hospitalized.
