4-Year-Old Recognized for Reading 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

A proud 4-year-old has become the first to read 1,000 books as a part of a Massachusetts library's pre-kindergarten reading program.

Greyson Doherty commemorated his accomplishment Friday at Dighton Public Library which provided him with a cerificate for being the first to complete their "1,000 Books Before Kindergarten" reading program.

The library posted about Greyson's achievement on Facebook, saying that he celebrated with friends and family at story time on Friday.

"We are so proud of him!" Dighton Public Library wrote.

The Taunton Gazette wrote that reading has become a fundamental part of the pre-kindergartener's daily life. They reported that his mother Amanda Doherty said Greyson has been picking out books to read since he was 2 years old.
