A 56-year-old man has died in an apparent drowning in Westwood, Massachusetts, according to fire officials.
Emergency crews responded to Buckmaster Pond in the area of 350 Pond St. around 3 p.m. for a water rescue.
The body of James Kane was recovered from the water. His brother says he suffered from Parkinson's disease.
"If you ever go swimming, use the buddy system, and don't ever go swimming alone. I don't care how good you swim," said Peter Kane of Norwood. "I'm a Navy swimmer and my brother was a certified lifeguard. You just don't go swimming by yourself. You just don't do it."
Kane believes his brother's illness "must have tripped him into the water and he fell in and he went right down to the bottom."
Fire officials confirm that the subject has been recovered from the water and is deceased.
Police said the man has been identified as James Kane. He was swimming with his brother when he went under and didn't resurface.
