Six people were injured when an MBTA bus collided with a BMW on Interstate 93 south in Boston on Thursday morning.
Massachusetts State Police said they responded to a 2-vehicle crash in the HOV lane on the lower deck of I-93 south in Charlestown around 9 a.m.
Police said a 2016 BMW X6 coupe operated by a 41-year-old Everett woman attempted to enter the HOV lane by crossing over rubber rumble strips. The bus, which was already traveling in the HOV lane, struck the driver's side of the BMW.
The driver of the bus, a 39-year-old male MBTA employee from Charlestown, was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with minor injuries. Two bus passengers were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Three other passengers said they would seek medical treatment on their own.
A second MBTA bus responded to the crash scene and the 14 passengers who were not hospitalized were transferred onto it.
Police said the driver of the BMW will be issued a citation for traffic violations.
The names of the drivers and injured parties were not released by police.

During the response to the crash, all but one lane was closed to traffic, causing a significant backup on I-93 south. All regular travel lanes reopened shortly after 10 a.m.
