Vermont State Police said a 6-year-old Underhill boy suffered a gunshot wound to the leg Thursday.
Authorities said the boy, his father and two other children were shooting at a target with a .22 caliber pistol. They said the gun didn’t fire when the boy was shooting, but it discharged when he lowered the weapon.
Police said the boy was admitted to the University of Vermont Medical Center with a wound that was not life-threatening.
The case is under investigation, police said.
