62-Year-Old Man Critically Injured in Norwich Crash

A 62-year-old man was critically injured in an accident in Norwich Friday night.

Norwich police said three vehicles collided just before midnight near the intersection of Washington Street and Arnold Place. When first responders arrived the 62-year-old old driver was unresponsive but breathing. He was taken to Backus Hospital by ambulance and then airlifted to Yale-New Haven Hospital for further treatment. Police said he is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the second vehicle was transported to Backus Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The third driver was not injured. None of them have been identified at this time.

The Norwich Police Accident Reconstruction team is investigating. Washington Street was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
