Eight cases of Enterovirus D68 were confirmed in Massachusetts, on Friday. Baystate Children's Hospital in Springfield says federal and state health officials have confirmed the virus.
The eight cases cases come in addition to the 8-year-old Massachusetts girl whose case was announced last week. She's since recovered.
There have been 226 lab-confirmed cases of Enterovirus D68 in 40 U.S. states.
Symptoms of the disease include fever, runny nose, sneezing, cough, and body and muscle aches.
Health officials say good hygiene is key to preventing the virus.
