800-Pound Man Needs New Home

An 800-pound man undergoing weight loss treatment said he was kicked out of Rhode Island Hospital after ordering pizza.

An 800-pound Cranston, Rhode Island, man who was kicked out of a hospital for ordering pizza is living out of his father's SUV and needs a new home.

According to NBC affiliate WJAR, Steven Assanti, 33, recently spent 80 days at Rhode Island Hospital in an effort to get his weight down to 550 pounds.

However, Assanti said he was kicked out when he ordered a pizza, violating his care plan. Rhode Island Hospital did not comment.

Assanti said his situation was the result of an eating addiction. His father, Steven Veillette, told WJAR taking Assanti home would put him in danger of returning to his prior eating habits.

"I just don't know who to turn to," Veillette told WJAR. "I called everybody - everybody you can think of in the state of Rhode Island and nobody seems to be (able to) help me."

Assanti's social worker is working on getting him into a permanent location.
