Police say an 84-year-old northwestern Vermont man was killed after he was hit by a truck backing up in a parking lot in Colchester.
Ralph Rice was struck by a pickup truck in a park and ride off U.S. Route 7 around 6:41 p.m. Tuesday. Colchester Rescue transported the Milton man to University of Vermont Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police say Rice and the 88-year-old driver of the truck, George Hubbard, had both just returned from a casino trip on a tour bus.
Lt. Doug Allen says there was no indication that Hubbard was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time.
The accident remains under investigation.
