88-Year-Old Woman Attacked by Dog

Police are looking to identify the animal's owner

An 88-year-old woman who was out for a walk on Monday afternoon suffered numerous bite injuries when she was attacked by a dog.

Police in Manchester, New Hampshire, said the woman was walking in her Normand Street neighborhood around 4 p.m. when an unknown dog attacked her.

The victim told police that a woman and a juvenile female were walking a dog just before the attack. The brown Boxer had been on a leash, but the young juvenile either let go or lost control of it. The dog immediately ran toward the elderly woman and attacked her. The woman was bitten several times before the dog was taken back into custody by the adult owner.

Once the adult gained control of the dog, she and the young girl left the area. The victim's son took her to the emergency room to seek medical treatment for her dog bites.

It is unknown who the dog's owner is, but the dog and its owners are not believed to live in the neighborhood. The dog appeared to be thin and was possibly between 4 and 7 years old. Anyone with information about the attack or the dog's owners is asked to contact Manchester Police at 603-668-8711.
