9 Arrested Over Weekend at Encore Boston Harbor, Police Say

The Everett hotel, which opened June 23, has had previous arrests

Nine people were arrested between Friday and Sunday at Encore Boston Harbor, Massachusetts' newest casino, on various charges including drug possession, assault and trespassing, according to state police.

Three people from Lowell were charged with assault and battery connected to a fight in the valet area at the Everett casino, state police spokesman David Procopio said. Another person from Lowell in the group was charged with a drug offense.

Five other people were charged over the weekend with various offenses, including disorderly conduct, trespassing, resisting arrest and drug possession.

Encore has seen other arrests since the hotel and casino opened June 23.

Within the first 24 hours of the casino opening, police made four arrests.

Two men were charged with cheating at a roulette table, one person was arrested for disorderly conduct while another arrested for trespassing. In addition, one person was issued a summons for possession of heroin.

In August, three separate fights in various areas of the casino resulted in the arrest of two people on various assault and battery and disorderly conduct charges. Another man received a summons to appear in court for a charge of assault and battery, state police said.
