9 Men Charged With Child Pornography, 1 Faces Drug Charges After Rhode Island Sweep

Authorities say the statewide sweep was the result of an ongoing undercover investigation

Authorities announced the arrests of 10 Rhode Island men on Wednesday, with nine facing child pornography charges and one man, a convicted sex offender, facing a drug charge.

According to Rhode Island State Police, a task force executed search warrants at homes in a statewide sweep after ongoing undercover investigations, taking digital media as evidence in charges against nine men that they owned child pornography.

Christopher Roberts, 31, of 41 Charles Ave. in Charlestown; 29-year-old Matthew Golding of 24 Cambridge St. in Providence; 27-year-old Steven St. Jean of 59 Pilgrim Ave., Coventy; 29-year-old Robert Pesaturo of 44 Metropolitan Ave., Cranston; 33-year-old Roland Lussier of 121 Prospect St., Lincoln; 44-year-old Sheriff Njie of 104 Vandewater St., Providence; 39-year-old Edward Belleville of 35 Main St., Apt. A, Scituate; 28-year-old Cesar Sanchez-Hernandez of 39 Henry St. in Central Falls; and 33-year-old Joshua Chere of 17 Halsey Dr. in Smithfield have been charged with owning child pornography, state police said.

Meanwhile, police say convicted sex offender Vincent Siravo, 35, of 61 Ocean Rd. in Narragansett, was arrested for having marijuana in his possession, which authorities add is violating his probation. Siravo was convicted in 2008 for possessing child pornography.
