After Saturday’s record highs in Maine, cooler air has now settled over New England behind the front that moved through the region.

There was a lot of sunshine Sunday with seasonable highs (temps near 40º). Clouds will increase late, as a clipper system moves east and drops light snow showers after midnight. It won’t be enough seriously to impact travel, but if you are on the roads during the morning hours, expect slick spots. Snow totals will range between a dusting to an inch for many spots. The higher terrain in Western New England could get up to 3 inches of snow.

The South Coast will be warm enough for rain showers, or more of a mix. Most of the action will diminish by the afternoon and drying out during the evening. Highs will be in the 30s. Christmas Day will be chilly and bright with highs in the 30s.

Our week stays quiet and cool until Friday-that’s when the next system arrives with a chance for rain over Southern New England while Northern New England may start out with a mix and then transition over to rain. Highs Friday will be in the 40s to near 50 degrees.

Our exclusive 10-day forecast now includes New Year’s Eve and so far, there’s a slight chance for snow showers but it’s still far away to make a call as to how much we could get so, stay tuned!
