Today’s sunshine was a sight for sore eyes, after days of clouds and rain. While Monday will still be nice for many, a few spotty showers also return to parts of New England.

Clouds will first gradually increase tonight, especially across Southern New England. Lows will be in the 40s and 50s for most, with the exception of a few 30s in far Northern New England.

A weak area of low pressure will skirt by Southern New England during the morning, likely bringing some showers to parts of coastal Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Southeastern Massachusetts. While these areas see a bit more sun during the afternoon, the showers will then slide into parts of Northern New England during the second half of the day. Highs will mainly be in the 60s.

Tuesday is bright and sunny with highs near 60.

Wednesday starts quiet as well, but clouds will fill in ahead of our next more potent storm. That arrives with gusty winds and heavy rain late Wednesday into early Thursday. Right now it looks like a widespread 1-2” of rain is likely during that time.

The good news is that unlike the storm last week, this is a very quick mover, so it gets out of here in a few hours instead of a few days.

The bad news is that it will likely strip many leaves from the trees in Northern New England, where foliage is still peaking in many spots.
