AG Clears Man in Manchester Shooting Death

Jose Gonzalez was justified in using deadly force against Jesus Rodriguez, officials say.

A Manchester man who fatally shot another man in May will not face criminal charges.

The attorney general's office said Monday that 36-year-old Jose Gonzalez was justified in using deadly force against 25-year-old Jesus Rodriguez, who was shot to death May 10.

Witnesses told investigators that that the shooting happened when Gonzalez and his girlfriend were visiting her family, and Rodriguez began insulting the girlfriend's sister. As the argument escalated, Rodriguez came at Gonzalez with a tire iron. Gonzalez then fired two shots, killing him.

Gonzalez surrendered himself and his gun to police without incident.
