Acadia National Park Passes Now Available Online

Sens. Angus King and Susan Collins have pressed the National Park Service to modernize the sale of park passes

Getting an entrance pass for Acadia National Park in Maine is now as easy as going online to pay.

Sens. Angus King and Susan Collins have pressed the National Park Service to modernize the sale of park passes, and the pilot program kicked off on Tuesday.

The park service says entrance passes purchased online can be printed or stored on a mobile device. Park staff will scan the code to validate it.

Acadia is the first of five national parks to pilot electronic entrance passes. The pilot program will expand to include Colorado National Monument, Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Everglades National Park and San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park over the next few months.
