Officials in Northborough, Massachusetts, say a husband and wife are dead in an apparent murder-suicide that happened at a home on Tuesday night.

After receiving a call for a domestic dispute at about 10 p.m., police responded to a home on Pond View Way, where officers found 57-year-old Thomas Blasko dead and his 57-year-old wife Debra critically wounded.

Authorities said Debra Blasko was rushed to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, where she later died.

Investigators say Thomas Blasko shot his wife before turning the gun on himself. Authorities said an argument led to the shooting.

"I was shocked to hear about it," said neighbor Andrea Kazmierczak.

"It's not that kind of neighborhood," added Patrick Coyne. "It was a shock to see them out there this morning and then to hear what happened, holy cow!"

During the day, police removed dogs from the couple's home as the street remained cordoned off with crime scene tape.

According to the state, Debra Blasko ran a licensed day care in the home for the past 18 years. Neighbors say the Blaskos had multiple children themselves.

"We went in the house, we talked to them, they seemed like a nice couple," said Kazmierczak, who considered using the Blasko's day care.

Authorities said there is no threat to the public.

"(I) just pray for their families and their friends," said neighbor Jean Coyne. "I'm sure it's going to be shocking to them as well."
