Air Force Sergeant Surprises Family by Coming Home for Christmas

A holiday with everyone at home in Leominster was at the top of this family's wish list.

After being separated for nine months, one Massachusetts serviceman was able to give his family the ultimate surprise for the holidays.

For children with parents serving in the military, a holiday at home with the whole family is usually at the top of the wish list.

The only thing seven year old Cory Klink from Leominster wanted this year was for his dad to be home for the Christmas. This year, his wish came true. Air Force Tech Sergeant Eric Klink surprised his sons and came home early.

Sergeant Klink and his family were first sent out to Turkey all together. But just a few months after they arrived, Klink’s wife and children were evacuated for safety reasons.

Sergeant Klink had not seen his family since March, but he knew one day he would see them again.

“You go every day hoping for this,” Eric’s wife Shawna said.

Dad coming home wasn’t the only surprise. When the Klink family came back home they were forced to leave an important part of their family behind – Abby the family dog.

And with the family reunited this Christmas will likely be one the Klink family will not forget.
