26-Year-Old Accused of Shooting Man in Roxbury Park

Officers recovered a loaded 9mm pistol in the suspect's backpack

A suspected gunman believed to be responsible for the shooting of a 34-year-old man in Roxbury is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.

The shooting was reported just before 10 p.m. Wednesday at Southwest Corridor Park, according to officials.

The Boston Police Department and Transit police responded to the scene and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition. He remains in the hospital, but is expected to survive.

Boston police arrested Lishuan Gay, 26, in a courtyard near the intersection of Columbus Avenue and Dilworth Street in connection to the shooting. Authorities say the suspect was found hiding under a stairwell.

Officers recovered a loaded Jimenez Arms 9mm pistol from Gay’s backpack, according to officials.

Gay is scheduled to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
