An Emu Is on the Loose in Maine

Officials are warning residents to be on the lookout for an emu in the Lisbon, Maine.

The emu escaped from the Rockin' T Equine Sanctuary and Rescue facility located at 60 Edgecomb Road in the Lisbon Falls area on Wednesday. The bird is a rescue and dark colored and is believed to be in the area of Edgecomb and Summer Street.

Native to Australia, the emu is taller than any bird on Earth besides the ostrich.

Residents should not approach or chase the emu if they see him. Rather, they are encouraged to immediately call the rescue at 207-353-6581 or the Lisbon Police Department at 207-353-2500.
