Another Round of Rain Arrives to Region

Our weather is on ‘rinse and repeat’ mode this week, with another mostly cloudy day followed by nighttime showers and downpours.

Temperatures today will once more be the warmest inland, where sunny breaks are most numerous, and we avoid a cooling seabreeze. Highs will top out in the upper 60s and low 70s. Closer to the coast the clouds are more stubborn and highs will be in the 60s.

Tonight’s round of rain arrives from west to east during the evening commute in western New England, then spreads east towards Boston around and just after dinner. A few rumbles of thunder will be embedded in the showers and downpours, with the heaviest rain along and south of the Massachusetts Turnpike. A few towns may get close to 1 inch of rain.

The rain departs early on Friday, with clouds quickly following. That will leave us with lots of sunshine for much of Friday. Highs will soar into the 70s, before a seabreeze cools the coast during the afternoon.

The weekend, at this point, looks best in southern New England. That’s where we’ll find the most sun and the lowest risk of rain. In the mountains of northern and western New England we’ll find more clouds, and a higher risk for pop up showers and storms as early as late Saturday. Those will then continue into Sunday.

Temperatures inland will be in the 70s and close to 80, while somewhere like the Cape likely stays in the 60s.

Next week likely starts on the cool side, too, before warming back up mid to late week.
