No Bail for Arlington, Mass. Woman Accused of Stabbing Roommate

A Massachusetts woman is being held without bail after she allegedly stabbed her roommate at least twice inside an East Arlington condo.

Jaimie Ornstein was arraigned in court on Tuesday on assault and battery charges.

Arlington police say it happened around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at Arizona Terrace, a condo complex just off of Mystic Valley Parkway.

The victim, identified only as a man in his 30s, was found down the street by police, and allegedly told responding officers that his roommate has stabbed him several times.

"He had fled the scene attempting to get medical attention himself," Arlington Police Lt. Rick Pedrini said. "He sustained a rather large gash to his right bicep, and he was stabbed in the left hand, as well."

The victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries and is expected to survive.

According to prosecutors, officers found a trail of blood leading to the condo. Ornstein allegedly answered the door and was seen wiping blood off the floor with a paper towel.

Ornstein allegedly told police the victim went into her bedroom to retrieve a candle. Police said she told officers she felt threatened by this and swung a kitchen knife at him. She allegedly told police he went into her bedroom on different occasions and said her space was being violated, though she’s never called to report on it.

Officers found the knife in the bedroom with some blood on it. Ornstein allegedly told police it was the knife she used against her roommate.

Ornstein will appear in court Friday for a dangerousness hearing.
