    Suspect in Custody After Armed Carjacking in Dorchester

    A man who allegedly stole a vehicle at gunpoint in Dorchester was taken into custody after crashing into a pole in Mattapan.

    Police are investigating an armed carjacking that happened Tuesday in Boston.

    The incident began on Dix Street in the city's Dorchester neighborhood, where Massachusetts State Police say a man had carjacked a vehicle at gunpoint.

    A state trooper was in the area and tried to stop the vehicle, but it kept going before police say it crashed into a pole on Walk Hill Street in nearby Mattapan.

    Police say after the crash, the man got out of the vehicle and tried to flee, but he was taken into custody. Officers recovered a gun from the vehicle.

    NBC10 Boston's SkyRanger was over the scene of a crash in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood. A carjacking happened in nearby Dorchester, and police say the suspect is in custody.

    Although state police say no one was injured in the incident, NBC10 Boston's SkyRanger captured footage of a person on a stretcher being loaded into an ambulance.
