Arrest Made in Fatal Cape Cod Hit-and-Run Crash

An arrest has been made in a deadly hit-and-run crash that happened Friday night on Cape Cod.

Sarah Hunt, a 33-year-old Centerville resident, turned herself into the Barnstable police station on Saturday, admitting that she was the driver involved in the hit-and-run crash that killed a 62-year-old man.

Hunt was arrested and charged with motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, leave the scene of an accident after death and operating a motor vehicle with an open container.

Detectives have recovered the Toyota sedan they had been looking for since Friday night. The damaged vehicle was found in the garage of Hunt's home.

Fire crews had responded shortly before 8 p.m. Friday to Falmouth Road in the Centerville section of Barnstable, Massachusetts, where the 62-year-old male resident was found lying in the road after he was hit by a vehicle.

The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to Cape Cod Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Hunt, who was bailed on personal recognizance, is scheduled to be arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Monday. It's unclear if she has an attorney.
